  • 3 apples peeled, cored, diced
  • 2 tbsp 28g butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • A Pinch of salt
  • 150 ml heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 g crumbled cake or cookies
  • Honey for topping, optional

Instructions

Sauté the apples:

  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, a pinch of salt and cinnamon.
  • Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and caramelised.
  • Remove from the heat and let it cool.

Whip the cream:

  • In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  • Keep chilled until assembling.

Assemble the dessert (in glasses, bowls, or jars):

  • Layer crumbled cake or cookies on the bottom.
  • Spoon in some caramelised apples.
  • Add a layer of whipped cream.
  • Repeat layers.

Optional garnish:

  • Sprinkle a little extra crumble, cinnamon, or drizzle with honey or caramel.
  • Serve immediately, or chill for up to 2 hours before serving.
Can I make an apple parfait ahead of time?

Yes! You can prepare the components (apples, whipped cream, and crumble) ahead of time and assemble the parfait just before serving to keep it fresh and crisp.

What type of apples are best for parfaits?

Sweet, crisp apples like Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp work well. For a tangier flavour, try Granny Smith.

Can I use yoghurt instead of whipped cream?

Absolutely. Greek yoghurt or vanilla yoghurt is a great alternative for a lighter, healthier version.

Can I use store-bought cake or cookies for the crumble?

Yes, store-bought sponge cake, pound cake, graham crackers, or cookies like digestives or Oreos work perfectly.

Is this dessert served warm or cold?

You can serve it either way! Warm apples with cold cream make a cosy contrast, but chilled parfaits are refreshing too.

Can I make it dairy-free or vegan?

Yes, use dairy-free butter, plant-based whipped cream, and vegan cookies or cake for a fully vegan version.

How long will leftovers last?

Assembled parfaits are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 day. The crumble may soften slightly.
