  • Taste and adjust with more salt or lemon juice as needed.

Notes

*If you’re using a regular tomato, remove the seeds and watery pulp before dicing it. This helps prevent the guacamole from becoming watery. Roma (plum) tomatoes are also a good choice because they naturally contain less juice.
Optional: If you like your guacamole with a bit of heat, add ½ to 1 finely minced jalapeño (remove the seeds for a milder flavor, or leave some in for extra spice).
Use ripe avocados that yield slightly when gently squeezed.
For extra flavour, add a small clove of grated garlic.
Storage
To minimize browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole and refrigerate. It will keep well for about 1–2 days, though it’s best enjoyed fresh.
How do I know if an avocado is ripe for guacamole?

A ripe avocado should feel slightly soft when gently squeezed but should not feel mushy. The skin may darken as it ripens, and the stem end should come off easily when ready.

Can I make guacamole without cilantro?

Yes. Cilantro adds a fresh flavour, but you can leave it out or replace it with a small amount of fresh parsley if preferred.

How do I stop guacamole from turning brown?

Add lemon or lime juice and store the guacamole with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface to reduce air exposure. Refrigerate and enjoy within 1–2 days for the best taste.

Why does my guacamole become watery?

Guacamole can become watery if tomatoes release too much liquid. Remove the seeds and watery pulp from regular tomatoes before dicing, or use Roma tomatoes as they contain less juice.

How can I make guacamole spicy?

Add finely minced jalapeño to bring heat to your guacamole. Remove the seeds for a milder spice level or keep some seeds for extra heat.

What can I serve with guacamole?

Guacamole pairs well with tortilla chips, toasted bread, tacos, burritos, grilled meats, wraps, and fresh vegetables.
